Department Details
This position will assist in leading the Patient Education Sanford Standard and related strategies at the system level to influence patient teaching best practices to enhance the patient experience, patient safety, and optimal clinical outcomes. There will be opportunity to demonstrate leadership while representing the department at assigned meetings and committees.
The core work will involve:
Leading the team’s operations in order to optimize efficiencies and reduce errors within workflows and project management.
Developing innovative patient education strategies at the system level in partnership with colleagues on the team, subject matter experts/care team members, and leadership.
Leading the development of research proposals, Performance Improvement projects, and strategies to mentor staff regarding patient education best practices in various care settings will be key areas of focus.
Leading or co-leading system-wide patient education work groups using virtual meeting modalities.
Applicants must reside within or near Sioux Falls or Fargo. Position provides opportunity to work remotely with occasional in person activities (attend meetings, teach orientation content, etc.).
Applicants can expect to work 8am-4:30pm for Monday-Friday.

Job Summary
Professional registered nurse who leads the development of learning activities to support successful execution of enterprise strategies. Hold expertise and experience in clinical skill knowledge and curriculum build. Serves as an expert in adult learning principles, clinical skills, and organizational learning and development. Skills required in this role include exceptional team and relational (verbal and written) communication and delegation. Is responsible for promoting, advancing, and coordinating the use of blended learning using multiple learning methodologies. Must be able to facilitate group process, design curriculum, utilize various teaching/learning methodologies, and provide role modeling and leadership.
Oversees and facilitates enterprise coursework. Expected to build strong alliances with regional/system leaders to collaborate while addressing employee development and practice needs. Collaborates with leaders and educators on the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of individual and team-based curriculums and programs. Must ensure quality education offerings which meet the requirements of regulatory and accreditation agencies. Must be knowledgeable of current clinical practice and be actively engaged in incorporating current research and evidence-based practice into learning activities and proposals.
Must be self-directed and motivated to work both independently and collaboratively when exploring innovative solutions in program design, problem-solving, and decision-making. Plays a leadership role in managing project teams to improve course designs, lesson plans, and user guides. Strong critical thinking is essential. Holds analytical skills when assisting team members in problem solving and curriculum implementation. Demonstrates effective leadership while representing the department and education team at assigned meetings and committees. Engages in a systems approach to problem solving/process improvement and embrace systems thinking at both regional and enterprise levels. Expected to continuously develop, monitor, and evaluate all core programs related to on-boarding, integration, and professional development for quality improvement opportunities.

Qualifications
Master’s in nursing is required, or currently has in place, an education plan with proven continuous action towards achieving
Master’s degree in nursing within five years of hire. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred,
including, but not limited to, Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education
in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA).
Three years clinical experience required.
Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state. For the purpose of education, may need to obtain multistate licensure within six months of date into position. Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
